Digital Media

About the Department

The digital media classes at Providence Christian Academy provide opportunities for students to learn valuable skills that combine art and technology, including digital photography, graphic design, and videography. Students are taught professional software programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro, in addition to learning how to use DSLR cameras, studio lighting, and many other skills.

In the graphic design classes, students learn principles of design, how to apply those principles in their work, and also how design works in the real world with marketing and public relations.  Photography students have opportunities to photograph a wide array of subjects and discuss the challenges and best practices for professional photographers. Yearbook students are able to utilize all of these skills and also combine them with valuable time management and organizational skills that will aid them in college and the workforce.

Ultimately, our goal is to provide access to these skills as a way to gauge student interest in pursuing careers in fields like communication, marketing, film, photography, journalism, or graphic design and give them head start in college if they choose to major in one of these areas.
